1911 7 round magazines

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole today at the gun bench since it was -32 out today. One of the things I did was gather up all of my 1911 mags and check them over, clean them and replace a few springs.

I've got a bunch of mostly new 7 round mags that I never use since I have quite a few 8 rounders. I like the 8 round flush fit mags and I see that Wilson and a few others have kits to change the spring and follower to make the GI style mags 8 round.

Trying to decide if its worth the trouble, or just throw all of the 7 rounders back in a box under the bench to collect dust

Wilson mags have always been my go to 1911 mags with McCormick in 2nd place.

Most 1911 mags are made by the same handful of companies with different names on them. The Wilson’s are their own mag with a polymer follower. Most of the other ones out there use a steel follower, but you can buy the Wilson followers or a Trip hybrid follower which is probably the best there is, however they only allow 7 rounds in a GI length tube.
