350 Legend AR pistol- under gassed?

I have a question about a 350L pistol that won’t cycle. With most loads it ejects (but not all) but won’t feed the next round. It feeds fine manually with the charging handle.

I’ve used different springs and different weight buffers. Same result. If I go too light, it won’t chamber the next round, right?

It’s not an adjustable gas block, but switching the gas block to an adjustable wouldn’t provide more gas anyway. I think it’s under-gassed, right?

It’s a cheap barrel, like a Bear Creek or AR Stoner. I’ve been told that the gas hole might be too small and it can be drilled out incrementally bigger (numbered drill set). At some point Greg suggested this in another context.

Any suggestions for an under-gassed (maybe) 350 L AR pistol?
If the problem is under gassed, have you pulled the gas block and checked for alignment? The soot should be centered around the port.
