Back in my youth, I was pretty much indestructible. I could take a powerful hit or seveveral and
keep on swinging.
Fast-forward to today and not so much.
I dozed off in my office chair and it squirted out from underneath me and I knocked myself out. I managed to unhook my heart monitor and it took all I could do to get myself upright again and reconnect to my heart monitor. I called my neighbor and told her I might need help in the future, she said sure, just leave the door unlocked.
How far I've fallen!
Maybe I'll be getting you a Life Alert for your birthday this year....
Those office chairs are treacherous! They wait until you least expect it, then throw you on the floor and laugh. Get a seat belt so you can ride it no matter what it does. My wife's chair attacked her at work one day. She hit her head on the concrete floor and needed 6 stitches.

Getting old is not for the weak. I still get around pretty good, although, the ball joint of my right leg feels like it wants to pop out of the socket every once in a while. That hurts like a buggerer of a maternal parent!

I bought a lathe- 465 lbs with the crate, 370 lbs net just the tool. They put it in my truck with a fork lift and when the suspension groaned a bit, my wife looked at me… she didn’t say anything but I thought “what have I done?”
I told my son, “I’ll need some help if you can spare the time.” We opened the crate and he carried the legs, about 100 lbs, to the shop. I carried the tools and extras box. I took off the tailstock and tool rest, maybe 40 lbs, and carried them down. When I got back he said, “Dad, I think I got this. Just follow me real close and be ready with the dolly when I get down.”
230 lbs -he picked it up and muscled it into the house, down the stairs and into my shop.
So thankful for this young man. I’m not 20 years old any more, either.
I am reminded every day that I am not twenty anymore. The things I used to pick up and load back in the day cannot be touched today. I cannot be on my knees anymore, cannot squat, cannot bend or reach like I could before.
Currently I have too many aches and pains to list. What I do know is I need to start turning things around or I will be crippled in a couple years. Besides the knees shoulders and everything else my lower back is showing signs that it is not happy. If my back goes i’m done for. If I sit too long I start to lock up so relaxing is not an option. I do much better staying active. I’m getting my bicycle going again and if I can find some spare time I am going to ride it🤣
