M1 Garand… and that “ping!!”

I’ve been needing to load so I can shoot my M1. So I loaded 8 of 100 to test. Everything went ‘bang’ and cycled and ejected correctly- I think.

Doesn’t the clip always ‘ping’ out after the last shot? I know there’s a “clip latch” but isn’t that for removing a non-empty clip?



I had to push that and then the clip pinged away- not after the last shot. Is that normal?

No, that is not normal. The empty clip should eject when the last round fires. Try another clip. That one may have a defect causing the problem.
