The hits just keep on coming.

My heater is in the process of crapping out. The aux heat keeps coming on constantly. I didn't notice till I just got my latest electric bill. It's triple what it normally is. I put in the service request with American Home Shield yesterday. If I'm lucky the hvac people will call me tomorrow. When they will actually show up to fix it is a crap shoot. This system is the one they put in when they built the house in 2003. The coils in the attic unit are solid rust. They will either have to completely rebuild it or install a new unit. I'll update later. I'm freezing. I do have backup heat both electric and propane plus the fireplace.

Not good, not good at all……hopefully you get it fixed sooner rather than later

Can you edjucate a idjit on what kind of heat you have? I’ve never had anything other than forced air/natural gas, offspring both have electric baseboards & pellet stoves

I have a heat pump:

The second half of the system is in my attic. Here is what the evap coil looks like:

It’s 25 years old so it’s due.

The HVAC people just called and the earliest appointment they had was 1-3pm Monday. Time to stoke the fire.

Have never seen one in person or known anyone with them, interesting concept for milder climates I’m guessing
