Oh my goodness, really really sorry to hear & will definitely be praying not only for your little buddy but you as well

It’s extremely hard having to go through such times with our fur babies

Hopefully you survived the hurricane and are safe & dry

Thanks brother! We had some rain and high wind gusts. Lots of tree debris in my already overgrown yard.
We spent some time with her today. She seems to be improving but some of her lab results are still way out of whack. They drained some of the fluid around her lungs so she's breathing well enough to take her off oxygen. She doesn't want to eat for them but when we're visiting her she eats so we're going to visit her twice a day now. They haven't been able to pin down a cause for her symptoms yet. They think it could be Feline Infectious Peritonitis or could be something else. They sent samples to the lab in Texas so it will be a week or 2 for those results. In the meantime, they are going to start her on a new drug that treats FIP. If she improves then she probably has it and if not it's something else. The drug costs $500 a month.We.re already into the this thing for 8 grand. Our emergency cash stash is running low. I'm gonna have to start selling some stuff off. Just my luck the wife's Honda has a bad belt tensioner we need to get replaced. When it rains it pours.

Story of my life. That's why I never sweat the small stuff.

Really don’t want to like your post…..glad to see she is doing somewhat better, prayers do work

I understand totally the sacrifices we make as pet owners. Timbers emergency surgery a few years ago all added up to over 12k and still counting (lifetime follow up visits & prescription kibble)

We are eating hot dogs & beans along with cleaning out the cupboard/canned goods trying to scrimp & save for his upcoming orthopedic appointment while he gets farmers dog mixed in with his kibble 🤣🤣

I don't own my cats, they own me. Especially Houdini. She's my little guardian angel. Follows me around, Stays in the bathroom while I do my business to protect me from the bathroom monsters. Waits outside the bedroom door for me to come out in the mornings.

Houdini is home!
Unfortunately, she’s still a very sick little girl. The vet wanted to keep her a few more days but we’re nearing the end of our emergency cash stash. The vet agreed that the difference in her chances or full recovery between being home and in the hospital was not enough difference to make a difference.
She hasn’t been eating much so they installed a feeding tube in her esophagus. We have to feed her a prescription food by syringe 4 times a day. We also have 8 medications we have to give her throughout the day through her tube. We are going to do everything we can for her. The vet gave us her honest assessment that she feels Houdini won’t last much longer. We are as prepared for that eventuality as we can be, which is to say, not at all. We’re going to do our best to prove the vet wrong.

The difference between vet hospital and home is love & familiar sights/sounds & that really helps in the healing process of our loved ones

Houdini is slowly improving. Her blood test yesterday showed some levels have improved slightly and none have gotten worse. She started eating solid food out of her bowel and continues today. She’s strong enough now that she can jump up on our bed and snuggle next to me or between my legs all night. I’m running a sleep deficit but it’s worth it!
