I'm freezing! - specops56 - 01-10-2025 It's 31 degrees at my house right now. My backyard chain link fence has a coating of ice on it. Weatherman is calling for freezing rain overnight. It's not supposed to be this damn cold down here!!!!! Terry RE: I'm freezing! - olfart - 01-10-2025 Our high temp today has been 34. Our electricity went off at 10:00 last night and came back on at 10:00 this morning. Last night's ice storm has taken a toll on our trees. Luckily there's no ice on the roads, except probably bridges. Going down to 20 tonight, so the ice that melted today will make ice on the ground by morning. RE: I'm freezing! - tommag - 01-10-2025 An alternate heat source would be nice but I can't think of anything that's inexpensive. A used wood stove would be cheap but there's a bit of work installing the chimney. A lot of locations have prohibitions on their use as well. Besides that, how often would it be used, maybe a couple times a decade? I've heard of un-vented propane heaters but that doesn't sound very safe. RE: I'm freezing! - olfart - 01-10-2025 We've used kerosene heaters. Pretty efficient and put out LOTS of heat. Few houses these days are tight enough to worry too much about CO, but a CO detector would be a good idea. Ummmm, must be global climate cooling 🤪🤪 RE: I'm freezing! - specops56 - 01-10-2025 As long as I have power I use the electric space heaters. Wehn the power goes out I'll break out the propane heaters and cooking stove. I just crack open the fireplace flue for ventilation. Yep, it’s got to be global cooling, that’s got to be down right frigid in your area l, hopefully your critters are all warm & safe RE: I'm freezing! - Rampy - 01-10-2025 (4 hours ago)tommag Wrote: An alternate heat source would be nice but I can't think of anything that's inexpensive. The buddy series of propane heaters are nice, have a small one we ran in a tent and it was soooooo comfortable RE: I'm freezing! - Rampy - 01-10-2025 (1 hour ago)specops56 Wrote: As long as I have power I use the electric space heaters.
