strange occurrences lately, family members. - tommag - 01-14-2025
I'm not a blood is thicker than water guy and I've estranged myself from several family members (not my kids) several years ago that I didn't consider trustworthy. Yesterday and today I've received several phone calls from them trying to re-establish contact. I no longer have reason to fear them as I no longer have disposable income and they know that.
I'm not sure what's going on but I know the Bible has things to say about family. Maybe I need to read a bit and figure it out. If anyone here can point me to biblical passages relating to that I'd appreciate it.

Wow, Terry, that's a lot to wade through! The most relevant to my situation seems to be from Mathew 18 about forgiving your brother 77 times.

I look at it this way; If GOD can forgive us, who are we not to forgive others? Especially family. You are fortunate to still have family. All I have left is my wife and BIL. I don't want to go to my grave holding grudges. Perhaps your family is trying to make some tentative moves at asking for your forgiveness.

I don't look at it like holding a grudge against those who I have cut out of my life, they are just strangers to me and get no more from me than any other random person. I'll be civil but I won't allow them back into my life ever.
