Authentic American Bison - Rampy - 02-07-2024

Found a small bison ranch not all that far away who is processing and selling the buffalo they raise

Ordered a bunch and they delivered it instead of shipping and we really like the buffalo ribeye steaks as that’s all we have tried so far

Looks like they will ship free if you make a minimum purchase

Bison farming is almost as popular as cattle farming up here in interior alaska , I think because they do much better in the cold and are much less hassle to raise than beef.

Whatever the reason they generally seem to get turned into burgers mostly because that’s what sells best to the tourist, and I can’t say I’ve ever had a bison ribeye, but now I want one.

this bison ranch is in Carr Colorado and it’s closer to Wyoming than anywhere in Colorado

We also got lots of ground bison, it’s the winter and I’m a fan of meatloaf, meatballs, tater tot casserole, chili and such. Might make a few burgers if it stays warm but they are talking about cold/snow

I was hankering for a steak & we did them on the stove/oven in some EVOO and used the leftover EVOO with some butter added in on some Italian slow dried pasta & Woza it was yummy

That does sound pretty dang tasty. I’m gonna have to talk to the local butcher and see if I can get a couple steaks off them.
