Survival Food Review: Expired Emergency Food Bar - 1997 Mainstay!
Bottom line: Color is a little darker than it is when new. No scent of lemon. Smells somewhat like wax. Texture is dry and gritty. No hint of spoilage in the taste. A hint of the original lemon and sweetness. Better than expected. Would eat it in an emergency.

Mine were purchased in 1998 in a case
Last time I looked they had broken down into chunks & powder but were still edible
