AR15 PICTURE Thread (rifles) - Emptymag - 07-03-2023

(see pistol sub forum for AR pistol pics)

My "basic" AR15 carbine.
The only upgrades aside from the "custom" Magpul furniture are the ALG Defense Sidewinder muzzle brake, and the RRA National Match 2-stage trigger.

Chiappa M4-22 .22LR upper on a New Frontier polymer lower.
I have a buffer/spring in the buffer tube on the off chance I would ever need to throw a 5.56 (or other) upper on it.
The Black Dog Machine 50 rd drum is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

Lightweight build I put together for my wife.

I'm not made of money, so I didn't get crazy obsessive over shaving every possible ounce.
Instead, I concentrated on the parts that are typically most heavy, and went as lightweight as I could afford to on those parts. (no titanium for this puppy)

GWACS Armory CAV-15 polymer lower
Faxon 16" pencil barrel
SLR Rifleworks adjustable gas block
CG-6 Epsilon muzzle brake (she chose it - "It looks badass" were her exact words)
Right to Bear 8.9 oz Lightweight BCG
Taccom Ultra Lightweight 2.2 oz buffer system w/10% reduced power buffer spring
ALG Defense anodized purple handguard
Magpul MBUIS
Sig Romeo MSR red dot (current configuration)

I love this carbine so much, I plan to build a clone of it for myself one day.
For now though, she doesn't mind if I borrow it.
SO nice to shoot. There's no recoil and the muzzle doesn't move. I can shoot it with one hand outstretched.
It's like shooting a .22LR

At 5.07 lbs, It's a solid 2 lbs lighter (including the optic) than a comparable size "standard" carbine without optic and BUIS

Top picture is my AR as it was from 2008 (minus the grip) until a year ago, and the bottom one is as it is now.

Rifle is an Olympic Arms. I forget which model, I swapped out the upper receiver with a PSA upper, but kept the original barrel. Using a PSA Cross-cut MLOK handguard. Swapped out the CAA stock with an ACS-L Stock from Magpul, as I like having a small bit of storage. Added Magpul BUIS gen 2. Holosun HE510C-GR (green dot). Magpul BAD lever. Magpul VFG. I forget which Olight is on there, but it's one of the smaller ones. Strike Industries polymer dust cover (other side of the rifle). BCM gunfighter charging handle. PSA nitride Bolt carrier group. VLTOR A5 buffer system, and a Midwest industries low profile gas block. I also have a green low profile laser on there made by some company named Monstrum, but I may take it off since it drains the battery even when the laser is off, so it's kind of pointless. Also running the PWS ratcheting castle nut/end plate. I think the sling is from a company called Gear Sector, and it's a single point sling. It's attached to the end plate with a Blue Force Gear swivel. Might change out the sling, as I don't really care for it anymore, and there have been some advancements since I got it back in like 2008.

Not sure if I missed anything, as I have never typed it all out before. I actually kind of feel like a damn mall ninja, if that term is still a thing...
