Well, the deed is done.
In the spring we bought 6 chicks from the “egg” side at Blains Farm & Fleet. My daughter wanted 4 and I warned her she would lose some so better get extras. All six survived. But one of the hens decided to grow a comb and start crowing. Dubuque, being the Iowa town it is, doesn’t allow hens that identify as roosters. So, with waiting for him to grow, and having a busy schedule, it finally came to a head today. Well, actually, it was more like him losing his head today, you know?
