I'm going to make a pot of beef stew so I went to the store.
Parsnips $2.99 a lb.
Rutabagas 2.49
Chuck roast 8.49/lb
It wasn't that long ago when Chuck was $1.30 or so! I walked by the seafood counter and Chilean see bass was $42 a lb. Nope, that'll never get on my list.
I bought a few gold maple leaf coins a few years ago at about $1750/oz as sort of an easily hidden emergency fund. Last week they were up to $2750 or so.
This will be the most expensive beef stew I've ever made. It's sad what they've done to our dollar.

Last I looked Gold was 2764 and going up

We went out for our 32nd wedding anniversary to the restaurant we go to every year & got the Chef’s tasting menu. Now the chef owner was Thomas Landry sou chef for many many years at the French Laundry so it’s not cheap by any means

It’s stupid expensive now, just under $500 for 3 people with tip & my wine service was only $60 while the wife & daughter drank water

Knew it was expensive & budgeted but it’s up more than 100 since last year

Since we have become empty nesters instead of going down our food budget has gone up and we eat less

Have a chance to go to a Glenmorangie Scotch tasting event, 6 different scotch’s with a 5 course meal prepared by a local chef who was on Beat Bobby Flay (got 1 vote) and is reportedly a excellent chef

The Glenmorangie offerings are:
The Original 10 Year
The Lasanta 12 Year
The Quinta Ruban 14 Year
The Cadboll Estate 15 Year
A Tale of Tokyo
Signet

All for the low price of $100…….
