I only participate in 5 forums, but artful bullet got taken down by an attack for a few days ( details of the attack haven't been provided yet).
Yeah, they have a volunteer professional it guy there and I don't know if we have such expertise on board here. Myself, I can barely operate a browser. Anyway, while rocketfoot, olfart, and myself keep the spammers at bay, I'd sure like to see another one of you volunteer as a moderator, just in case. Just knocking the spammers down doesn't require any special knowledge (Terry are you listening?).
I don't know what it skills rocketfoot has, but an it guy would be nice to have onboard as well.

Only have 2 web based forums I try to visit daily and possibly 2-3 others I might hit once a month or more

I tend to stick with facebook groups and now X for the vast majority of time

Is there an increase in spam/trolls/fake accounts & such??

No increase in spam, just thinking of redundancy. Lots of fake accounts but we don't hit them until they do something hinky.

I'm listening. Let me get through the rest of the year and you can sign me up in January. You have my word.

Not that the workload is big, but I believe in redundancy. Contact rocketfoot and he'll sign you up. If you don't want the super moderator label he'll  take care of that as well.

Sounds good to me...We'll bring SpecOp on in Jan.

This forum is fairly safe as far as "Safe" goes...any forum can an might get hacked but we keep daily, weekly and monthly revolving backups on a remote server so if the site gets banged, I just have to roll back the latest clean backup and we are right back where we left off! At worst, we might lose a day's worth of posts but not much more. Again, anything can happen that we don't even know about yet but safe within reason!

Apparently the Super Moderator label is applied as a default upon becoming a moderator, but modesty prevails in some cases. If you choose not to be labeled a Super Moderator, speak up, and RF will change you back to your standard label.
