thread drift

I see thread drift frequently on other forums. I don't recall it being a thing here. Is it because we're such a small forum?

That's probably partly it. Another part is that the average age and experience of the members here is probably significantly higher than the larger, more well known forums. Personally, I like it this way.

Personally I’m terrible at cutting threads. My tap always drifts. The only time I didn’t get thread drift was when I used the big lathe at work and everything went straight.

I use my drill press, twisting the chuck by hand. Works pretty well when what I need tapped will fit on the table.
I've noticed that when I'm behind the wheel and post a response to a thread I frequently end up in the wrong lane. Is that thread drift?
