A warm handshake

I purchased a Ruger sr1911 commander and am waiting for the 10 business day crap to end so I can bring it home. (Good thing we have that, it'll cool me off and I'd have to use one of my other firearms for a murderous rampage, no way I'd use one of them for that.) 
There's something about the feel of the 1911, nothing says "Hello old friend" like a 1911. Are there better choices for edc? Yes, many better choices but the feel of the 1911 is like a warm handshake to me. I have only one other 1911, a RIA double stack 9/22tcm. It's close, but not quite the same.
I went with the Ruger largely because of Daniel's experience with it. The amount of ammo he goes through is amazing and his is still performing well after 10 years. I also ordered a tribute holster from simply rugged for it on his recommendation as well as my prior experience with with simply rugged. It's a bit spendy at $170, but I know they build good stuff.
I think I'll start a go fund me page after all that, I've already made a cardboard sign that says "Will work for ammo." It's a little slow, after 3 days I've only gotten 4 22lr cases and a cup of coffee, (without the cup).

While simply rugged is good stuff I prefer Doc’s leather holsters & have several, you can get Doc’s holsters cheaper also

I have a Ruger 1911 stainless and it is a solid, well built piece! I think you will enjoy your new Ruger!

I coulda swore I bought a commander size but I got a full size one. Anyhow, it would lock up when I tried to eject a loaded round. Turns out I was leaving a tiny bit of bell in the case mouth, not enough to prevent chambering but enough to keep the barrel from dropping. I ran them all through the seating die again to put a bit more crimp in the case and that took care of it.
Went to the gun store/indoor range today and was happy with the results.
5.4 grs H.universal under a 230gr lrn gave me an average of 874 fps and 2.5" groups at 50 feet. I shot better off hand than I did with a rest.
While I was there the red dot sights caught my eye. Holy Moly, they're making them tiny now! I'd guess 5/8" wide, 1/2" tall. I had no idea they were that small now.
