Had a rough night!

About 2200 last night my wife started having severe back spasms, She could barely move because of the pain. I took her to the Dorn VA hospital emergency room. When I got her signed in the desk lady handed me a mask and said it was required in the ER there. I told her that I saw at least 5 medical personnel walking around without one. If they don’t have to wear the stupid mask then neither did I. And that was that. I was in no mood for that crap. While we waited  some dude came up to the check in window, threw something in one of the ladle’s face and ran away. The cops got him.
They took vitals, urine sample and did a CAT scan of her back. While we waited for the results, I watched a lady die on the ambulance gurney of cardiac arrest at 0107. The result os the cat scan was some deterioration of the spinal area. They gave a shot of anti-inflammatory and some meds to take home. We got home at 0332. I got up at 0600 to feed the cats.

Now that I just got up from a nap, it is.

Is the Dorn VA close to you & they are a VA hospital that receives ambulances 😳😳 very few VA/ER’s are receiving emergency rooms

they did not even take the person to a bed & code then there but instead did it in the waiting room 😳😳

I’m sure you know that you can go to a closer civilian hospital/ER if you want to in an emergency & that all you need to do is call the VA within 72 hours as well as telling the admissions clerk the VA will be paying the bill

sounds like a really rough night, hopefully your young bride is doing better & you get a good nights sleep

Dorn is where she goes for her regular medical stuff. It's about a 15 minute drive from my house. They accept veterans for emergency treatment. The paramedics said they'd been working on her for 30 minutes. The ER staff worked on her for about 15 minutes before they called it. I watched and listened from the exam room we were in. They tried really hard.

The VA has been trying to get rid of emergency departments & just do urgent care stuff

The VA here was slated for expansion as it’s only got 3 beds & 2 exam rooms. They had the blueprints & budget and construction was scheduled to begin

9 years later they still have not started & nobody knows anything about a remodel & they are still stacking people in the halls in hospital beds stolen from other units

Had one vet popping a nitro pill every 5-10 minutes drive over 100 miles to us going right past 2 level 2 trauma center’s. I hooked him up & he had a STEMI & we shipped him across town stupid fast to the hospital he drove right past…..
