After looking at recipes for crockpot Lima beans I'm not seeing any that use celery. My mind tells me I should use a stalk or two of celery as well as some grated carrot. Am I trying to screw a pot of ham and Lima beans up?

I thought it was why they make recipes. Unless you wanted to go to a restaurant that serves lima beans.

I cooked the Lima beans with what I had on hand. Onion, garlic, ham soup base and a ham steak from the freezer. It's hard to screw up beans, but I did my best to ruin it.
Most of the basic flavors were there but I should've picked up a ham hock and some celery. It was way too bland. A ham hock would've gone a long way to make it richer.
