How good we have it.

Like many of you I can remember when produce was seasonal.  Today, because of transportation, we can have whatever we want  when we want it. Ripe tomatoes from a hothouse in British Columbia, check. Melons from Central America, check. Do you want fresh peaches? They're being flown in from New Zealand as we speak.
I could easily get political on this but i'll try to refrain, but for those dumbasses who think communism is the way to go, look at what the free market has given us.

How good we have it? Hardly. I'll take seasonal and fresh over much of that garbage 24/7.

The quality was lightyears better when it was seasonal. Went to the store the other day to get some melons (cantalope & honeydew) and the few they had you could poke your finger through. Guess how I know.

Well, it's hard to argue against the nice stuff from our gardens but the year round supply of produce is nice to have, even if it's picked not quite ripe.
