I'm not 20 anymore.

Yep! I was reminded of my age today when I went to get on the roof to patch a leak. Just a few years ago I wouldn't bother with a ladder, just shinny up the antenna tower at the end of the house. Today I was exhausted before I got to the roof. Got down and went after a ladder and was worn out again by the time I got it up to the roof. Then climbed it and walked to the peak of the roof, where it felt like the house was shaking under my feet. Nope, just my legs. That's when I discovered my liquid patching material had dried up. Don't know how that happened. I just used it about 10 years ago. Then it took me another 10 minutes to work up the nerve to get on the ladder to go back down. Getting old ain't for sissies!

I told my son, “I’ll need some help if you can spare the time.” We opened the crate and he carried the legs, about 100 lbs, to the shop. I carried the tools and extras box. I took off the tailstock and tool rest, maybe 40 lbs, and carried them down. When I got back he said, “Dad, I think I got this. Just follow me real close and be ready with the dolly when I get down.”

230 lbs -he picked it up and muscled it into the house, down the stairs and into my shop.

So thankful for this young man. I’m not 20 years old any more, either.

Remind me not to mess with your son!

I couldn’t have done it when I WAS 20, so there’s that to consider.

At 29, the lad’s as strong as an ox, a good husband, a good father, a good son and brother. He makes his Mom and Dad very proud.

And, yes, don’t mess with the people he loves…

He sounds like a healthy corn fed Iowa boy!

You should see him pack away corn fed beef and venison and sweet corn by the truckload!
