I like Vortex and wanted a low power scope so I ordered this one. I was thinking about a 2-7 but settled on the 1-6. The reticle appears to be geared toward human targets but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
Anyway, it was out for delivery Saturday but delayed in transit. I'm guessing it's a victim of the fire since it's still not here and no estimated time of delivery. I'll give it a couple more days before I cancel and reorder.

Had a first gen 1-6 on my 20" AR. Sold the optic and mount. Bad move. Loved it but wanted a larger Variable scope. Once zoomed up to about 3 the FSB disappeared.

My favorite scope -ever- is my Redfield ‘Widefield’ 1 3/4 - 5x At 1 3/4 it’s low enough power to acquire target very quickly (I carry it on the lowest power) but zoomed up it’s great for longer ranges. I won’t pretend I’m a long range rifleman- my longest (successful) shot on a whitetail deer ever was a pinch over 200 yards. That was with me leaned against a tree and my rifle rested on a two leg shooting stick. 5x is plenty at 200 yards.

But low, or zero, magnification for walking in and possibly jumping game a short range, or a coyote that runs right up to the blind… I like scopes that zoom to very low power.

I haven't hunted or called in a long time and most of my optics are 6+ magnification. Great for bench rest or longer range plinking, not so great for hunting. I do have a couple red dots, but feel handicapped out at 200+ yards, my eyes aren't what they used to be. I'm not a long range hunter, to me 400 is a long shot on a deer, and I'd need a heck of a rest for that.
When it comes to problem predators, I'd prefer a quick kill, but problems need taking care of so I'm not all that humane there.
