Weston

Fifteen months ago this guy was born. Look at him now!  He picks up all four feet for trimming, wears a fly mask, bathes, hard ties, ground drives with long reins, loads into a trailer, will back out of trailer, and will soon be a master of crossing wooden bridges.

He is no longer a baby in size.

I don’t know if he was a bonus or a nasty surprise at first, but he turned into a real prize!

😎 .....and still growing. Look at how butt-high he is!
It will be another 10 months or so before the epiphysial growth plates in his legs close.

They think he will outgrow his mom, 14.3, and reach 15 hands. We all agree he will be a tank like she is. She is 1250 pounds and wide as a Mack truck in the front end....Weston is going to be impressive at 3 years old for sure. The trainers love working with him and say he is advanced in his training further than youngsters 6 to 8 months older than him that they work with.

Weston passed another milestone today....and injured himself later in the day too.
He wore a saddle for the first time and was cool with it.

Then later in the day he ran himself into a round steel gate post at full speed and laid himself open.....he broke the concrete around a three foot deep steel post!!!
The marks are from a horse safe smooth gate latch......if hit hard enough nothing is horse safe.

That wound isn't terrible. A buddies horse back into the pivot pin on a dumpster hard enough to go a couple inches into the ham. That was gnarly.
