That’s a good question. I use Amsoil synthetic gun oil. 1 drop on each slide rail and that’s it on the 1911s. Glocks I run dry.

Did not know Amsoil had a gun oil. I’m strange and have always ran my pistols way over lubed (almost dripping) don’t know when or why i actually started that but ive been running AR’s/M16’s that way since the early 80’s

I’ve got AR’s I’ve not cleaned in over 10 years, run em wet with steel cases ammo 🤣🤣
I learned in the AF how the military teaches you to over clean weapons so they can be easily inspected & that has fostered the idea guns have to be clean to function

I’ve loaded 16 2011 15-20 rds magazines so far today and have about 8-10 more to go getting ready for a range trip. 90% of that ammo is filthy steel cased Tula 🤣🤣

Even using a loader my fingers/thumb hurts, I’m such a wimp anymore

I wonder what a 0 weight grease such as lubriplate sells would do? Supposedly it leaves a tiny bit in the pores after wiping it dry. It would be an interesting experiment, a dab on the rails then forcefully wipe it dry.

I still have 1/2 a syringe full of this stuff, never had any problems with it but I just liked oil better

I've used Lubraplate before, but also prefer oil. I carry at work with my guns and they collect a lot of dirt, so I try to keep them very sparingly oiled. Haven't ever had a issue. I do run a bit heavier than normal recoil spring to help with driving the slide forward.
